Well...eventually Janet caught up with me!  I must say that I have greatly enjoyed reading about everyone else during the year but now it's my turn to get grilled.  I'd like to commend Jan for her great work in both compiling these profiles and also her other newsletter contributions during 1999!

JOHN JARMAN

Nickname: C.J.   Zodiac sign : Gemini.

Q. What two words do you think best describe yourself ?
A.. Reserved . Logical.

Q. What is your favourite saying ?
A. "G'day "!!!

Q. If you were marooned on a desolate island what things could you not do without ?
A. The Babe, a power supply, my CDs & Player .

Q. How long have you been doing Rock and Roll and what does the club mean to you ?
A.
I've been doing it for seven years. Heather took me to R&R lessons in Lismore N.S.W, she had to drag me along...I was like a lot of fellas. I've always enjoyed and appreciated Rock and Roll music since I was a kid, but my biggest disappointment was that I never persevered to play a musical instrument . I always wanted to play drums but my parents never allowed me to...because of the noise factor.

The Club is a venue for me to enjoy myself and for other people to come and enjoy themselves socially and to participate in partner dancing.

Q. If you could improve the club what would be your suggestions ?
A. Id like to see the club partake in more social activities rather than only at dances. We could all go off as a group and experience other things together.  Dancing brings people together as a cultural part of their lives and we could use that to do other things.

6. Q. What is your favourite Rock and Roll song ?
A. That's a very difficult question for a DJ to answer as he is always on the search for new songs recent and from the past. But I would have to say the first time I heard Big Joe Turner sing `Shake Rattle and Roll` it struck me as a great R&R song. An early 50's vintage, but my favourite and great to dance to.

Q. Is there a particular dance move you like or dislike ?
A. Yes, my favourite is one that I can't do yet - the

'Hollywood style Whip'. I love it .
I dislike a move, the `Double Cuddle`. I think it's a dead end move.

Q. Have you any Interests apart from Rock and Roll dancing ?
A. Music, I appreciate other forms - Blues, Baroque, Japanese flute music. I like reading. I enjoy both driving and watching fast cars and watching cricket.

Q. Have you some Goal, Special achievement or Experience you may like to share with us ?
A. Yes, Retire early (ha!!) . I have a goal that only came into fruition in the last 12 months, I would like to tour the world to see all the best dance spots in America and Europe and if possible attend great workshops .

A special non Rock and Roll achievement, was getting my University Degree and having worked in General Practice in the country for 20 years. In R&R, our personal success in the comps in Wintersun this year was special, but of more enduring significance is the knowledge that our presence ( The Babe & I ) has stimulated many people in the region to take up an activity that they might normally not have tried - and learned to love it!

A hairy experience was driving home from Brisbane to Casino when we lived in NSW. We were travelling through some windy hills, the road a little greasy and coming to a turn I overcorrected the BM just a fraction, spun 180 deg, the rear of the car was heading at a great rate of knots backwards heading over towards a steep incline. Heather was with me and we both had this vision of plunging through the guard rail and meeting up with Elvis... I hit the skids - great brakes - and we stopped short about a foot from the guard rail!!

Q. Which two public figures , past or present do you most admire and what is your philosophy on life?
A. Sir Donald Bradman for his skill and execution of what he could do with the willow. I was always impressed with Galileo and Sir Isaac Newton.
My philosophy is "To be honest and fair and if something comes your way that you don't like, let it go straight over your head. Stay cool."

  Thank You ……
John .
